What is MMS/PF and how it works
Student view includes and Assignments tab and Content tab. The first tab is always opened by default. URL looks like this (incase you need to switch to a student view from the teacher view): comp.html#/student/assignments Any user without teacher rights will see the student view.
Teacher view includes Students tab, Content tab, My exercises tab, and Favorites tab. The first tab is always opened by default. URL looks like this /comp.html#/teacher/students To access the teacher view you need to be granted the rights. This can be done by any administrator. At the bottom of the default page of teacher view (students tab) you see a text 'If you created a teacher account by accident, you can: revert back to student account' This will remove your teacher rights.
Google Chrome (free). All our products are optimized for Google Chrome. You have no reason to use any other browser.
Sibelius (not free, MMS has a licence)
Finale (Finale Notepad is free and does what we need).
Audacity (free). You will occasionally need to edit some audio files.
Google account For MMS/PF and for accessing the metadata on Drive
A user with collections rights can create a new collection at /comp.html#/edit_collection/ At least title field has to be filled under the metadata tab. Scroll down to 'save'.
Cloning an existing collection (only metadata will be copied) can be done on edit page of an existing collection.
Naming and publishing collections
If 'Publish this collection (ready)' is ticked then it will show up under the set package to the consumer group that has rights to see that package.
The design works best with landscape images. Please do not link big image files, 100 kb is enough.
Adding exercises to a collection
- Existing exercises can be added under the edit_collection page's Exercises tab. The exercise list in the dropdown includes exercises from the user's collections 'Favorite Exercises' and 'My Exercises'. It is a non-preferred use case.
- When creating an exercise through the production tool a collection can be chosen from the dropdown. It's the preferred use case but unavailable through the public exercise creation flow.
Under the exercise tab on edit collection page one can add subdivisions. Those will appear at the bottom of exercise list and can be dragged into correct position (use scroll wheel and PgUp). Subdivisions have two functions: 1) they help to group the exercises and will divide content into two columns 2) they allow to assign the full content of a subdivision to students (for example, name it Lesson 1, drag appropriate exercises under that division and later assign the whole lesson at once).
- When creating an exercise through the public exercise creation flow this URL can be used to automatically include the exercise into a collection /comp.html#/create_notes?to_collection=<collection id>
